Just wanted to say a final thank you to everyone that visited me at the Ay-Up Market! 😁🛍️ Here I am where I stood for three days, and tbh was a little nervous at the start that it wouldn't go well, but how wrong was I! Firstly, the event itself was so amazingly run and organised! @itsinnottingham well done, the set up, the event helpers, the performances, music and dancers, it was all amazing! Thank you ☺️🦆 And I want to say hello to some new followers! Thank you for joining my little woven journey 😁🧵 Yeah, just thank you to everyone, I had some amazing conversations with people, saw some regular customers which is always lovely ☺️ Thank you to everyone that brought from me, I hope you are enjoying your little woven goodie! Now back to work! As I've got quite a bit coming up next month and so on! 😁

My view of the Ay-Up Market this weekend! 😁 You've got music, dancing, my great neighbours (@ditsypet and @neurodesigned) and my stall 😊 What a wonderful weekend it has been. The market was run amazing, and the performances and music was wonderful, so much to see and do! NEW PROMOTIONAL STUFF ✨ I've just had a delivery of some brand new promotional stuff! So I thought I'd share it all with you! I've got new business cards at the top, new thank you cards to go with every order or purchase in the middle. Then there's new swing tags on all the products, these have the space imagery on the front that inspired the fabric 😊 Finally I got lots of stickers with my logo on, so I can stick these to paper bags and my bow ties boxes! 😁 I like them all and can't wait for you guys to get them in post or in person with all your purchases of my products 😊

CUSHIONS ✨ I don't seem to share my cushions that often! This is a bespoke cushion made from off cuts, which you may recognise inspired the recent bag commission I did! I love cushions, you can't have too many right?! My sofa and bed is full of them and yes I do take them off and out then back on each day! And it's worth it 😁

HELLO ✨ Thought I'd say hello from the loom 😊 My plans at the moment are to weave all three colourways ready for any pre order sales and to restock for markets. I'm currently applying for all the markets for the year, with the first one potentially being in April. As soon as I have got them all sorted I'll put a post out with all the dates 😁 I've recently done a bag commission and it went so well that I'm thinking of stocking some! They would be one off pieces and maybe only available in person at markets! I'll show you the finished bag tomorrow 😊 Pre orders are open on my website (link in bio) so that means all my products are available in all three colourways for you to order and receive at the start of April 😁 Thank you!

Here's my second loom (still thinking of a name) All set up in a double cloth warp, which means I can weave two cloths on top of each other and when the fabric comes off the loom it folds out to double the size 😁 I'm currently weaving bow ties on this, as I'd like to focus on these more and get them into the wedding and events industry 😁 I'm looking at wedding fairs atm and other promotional materials, I want people to commission these for weddings, proms, cruises, or any dress up occasion 😊 it's very exciting! So keep a look out for this new collection of bow ties soon and where they will take me! 🎀

CREATIVITY ✨ The theme this week with @joyofindiemarketuk is creativity. I have always been creative, it's all I ever did or wanted to do was create! I just knew that my hands worked this way and that whatever textiles related thing I picked up I could just do it 😁 I love textiles, the textures, colours and tactility of it all. I can't say no or throw away any price of fabric or yarn! 😁 Now, weaving is my passion and my hands just know what they are doing, they know the next pattern or colour and I love the fluidity of it all 😁

SNOODS! ✨ Available in all three colourways, these snoods are sooo soft and warm because of the super soft fleece lining and the cost woven lambswool fabric! Product spotlight ✨ The mini duffle bag in the Witches Head Nebula fabric 🌌 This was the first handbag I sold when I brought out the new ones, the customer was drawn to it straight away at the start of a fair and it was the only one I had! More will be coming soon, ready for my winter markets 😁

Just me weaving! Super fast! 😁 It can sometimes feel this fast when I get into a rhythm although unfortunately it never is haha!

What happens when the fabric comes off the loom! ✨ This part is my favourite because I finally get to see all the fabric I have woven, but of course it doesn't happen very often! So the fabric is then washed to get all the oils out of the yarn from manufacturing and fluffs up the fibres to make it super soft! 😊 And then a nice natural dry (if the weather allows) outside 😁 I am always telling people to have a feel of the fabric because it really is softer than it looks and I always get that surprise expression from people when they realise 😁

A lovely long reel of 'most' of the weaving and making process! 😁 There is quite a few steps with weaving, even before you actually start to weave!! But that's what I love about it, that I use my hands, a little machine and some cones of yarn to produce fabric that is then made into products people can use!! It's magical ✨

All of course are amazing but I am really looking forward to lustre 😁 I've been working hard these last few months to get my stock levels ready for these markets, and bring out lots of new products and work on my set up so I really hope it all pays off 😊 Hope to see as many of you there as I can! I've been weaving a big batch of all three of my colourways recently! 😁 I think this is the most fabric I've had on the loom at one time! 💫 Really can't wait to wind it all off and show you, and finally make a big batch of snoods ready for the winter markets and to put on my website 😊

Here's my range of patchwork items! 🧶 I just can't throw away any piece of my woven fabric, especially after how long it takes to make! So I use all those pieces with the velvet off cuts to create unique, one off pieces like these 😁 There's the lavender bags🪻 which I dry myself from the lavender in my garden! There is cute little earrings, and at the end the tote bags with individual patchwork pieces and a hidden pocket 😊 I love making these patchworks and even thinking of making some pouches with them! Sometimes I find myself just walking into my studio and looking at the fabric I have made on the loom 😊 It really is a labour of love and quite magical that I make fabric some just yarn 🧶😁

The reality of weaving! 🧶 I know a lot of makers post speed up versions of them making, cause it looks better and you can show more of the process but I also think it's important to show the real speed! 😁 As you can see in this video, it really does take time to weave a few metres of fabric which I can only make a handful of products from sometimes! It's definitely a labor of love 😊

My latest market @the_garage_chilwell 😁 My stall has really changed over this year, and I am now just tweaking it ready for the Christmas markets! I'm so pleased with where I have come from and how I have developed my stand depending on the products ☺️ Lots of handmade displays have been made by me and @matt__wadge and lots of painting too! 😁

POUCHES 💫🎁 Multi purpose and super soft! These pouches would make a cute gift 🎁 They also have matching velvet bottoms to go with each colourways 😁

These small pouches are such a cute shape, I love that they are oval instead of square ☺️ They could be used for money, your mirror and lipstick, hair clips and bobbles or anything small and valuable 😁 a great little gift 🎁

I recently had a delivery from @handmadebynikita3 of all the products in the STAR CARINAE 💫 So here is the box bag! I don't think it's a secret that I love these, such a unique shape and the velvet bottoms give them an interesting touch ☺️

Sometimes I really should stop weaving cause I can just tell I'm tired but when there's such a little bit to go to finish how can you stop!! Weaving can be really therapeutic when you get into a rhythm but sometimes I just can't and so I have to do something else ☺️

Of course one day I would love a workshop for more looms but I have to remember where I have come from (the kitchen table) and be grateful for what I do have now ☺️

The OLD SUPERNOVAE has been getting a lot of attention on here recently so here's the WITCHES HEAD NEBULA 💫☺️ This bag was inspired by a duffle bag! I love the round side and how much you can fit in them so I created a smaller version for a handbag 😁 With two sets of handles it's so versatile, it can be worn over the body and you can quickly grab the small handles when you're in a rush! Box bags! 🎁 I was so pleased with how these turned out when I received them from @handmadebynikita3 😁 I wanted to create a sort of toiletry bag as a great gift option especially for men! They are a good size for fitting larger items, and could also be used for projects like knitting etc.

The Space Collection 🌌 A little explanation about the space collection of products and the images I use to inspire the fabrics colours 😁

INTRO ☺️💫 This first picture is me and my nan, Joan, she taught me to knit when I was around 8 and sparked my love for textiles! Of course, my business had to have her name in it and she loves to see all my latest products and markets etc. ☺️ Next is my graduation, this is for my master's degree in textiles design. I'm with my partner Matt, who has supported me forever and who I made my first bow tie for and he loved it! I started weaving in my undergraduate course at Hereford college of arts, the tutors all knew I would be a weaver from my neatness 😁 I then did my masters a few years later to advance my weaving knowledge and where I started my inspiration of space imagery 🌌 I After graduating I started to experiment with my style and started selling under alicejoanwoven in Feb 2020 on Etsy. 📦 I knew that owning a business and making what I love is all I wanted to do! I also started my job at that time at an amazing small business that sells dog accessories! It is the perfect job and I am now the production manager there and I love it! 🪡🧵 So that's where I started and I plan for the future to have more colourways, more products and keep doing what I love ☺️

The setting up process can take a day or two to complete! It's lengthy and precise but very satisfying ☺️

I'm currently weaving the third of my colourways, this is the STAR CARINAE! As you've seen I've been doing a big restock of all my products and producing some new ones too! I'll have all the new products on the website in the next week. I've got the OLD SUPERNOVAE being made into everything right now and this colourway is being woven to send next! Can't wait to have all three colourways on the website in all the products for you!

The mini duffle bag! Another newby! I actually sold this one at my last market, but don't worry more are being made! This bag is super cute, it got loads of compliments at the market. It's a round shape just like duffle bag but much smaller, great little handbag for day to day or for a special occasion ☺️

Here is the NEW box bag! I wanted to make this bag as an idea for a present for men. I had someone buy one yesterday for their brothers birthday :) It's great size for travelling, and storing all your tolietries! What do you think??

PATCHWORK 🪡 These cushions were the first bit of patchwork I did. They have been getting a lot of love at my recent markets. I love the textures and colour combinations of these. They make lovely statement pieces and I can create commissioned ones that have colours to suit your style. What do you think? Do you like a statement cushion?

PATCHWORK 🪡 I have also used these patchwork fabrics to make these cute lavender bags. They are full of pure lavender (from my own garden) and nothing else, so smell amazing! I've put a little loop of ribbon in then so you can hang them on door handles or in your wardrobe. What do you think? Do you like the patchwork? Do you use lavender bags?

PATCHWORK 🪡 I've currently been working on using my leftover woven fabric and velvets to create unique patchworks, and see what sort of products I could make with them 😁 With this tote bag I decided to go for a triangle shape in the corner, I think it's quite interesting! And I have seen it on leaving a small gap at the top for a pocket! Pockets are just so useful on bags right?! What do you think? What products would you like to see these patchworks on?

WEAVING... As a weaver you think I would spend most of my time weaving! But there's so much more going on behind the scenes. At the moment I'm trying to weave more fabric to make stock but it's taking its time as I'm also getting ready for markets, sewing products, doing admin, making newsletters, updating my website and social medias etc!

NEW PRODUCT!! The wonderful @handmadebynikita3 has worked her magic again for me and created these amazing pencil cases! They have a triangle shape making them unique!
